Pay Up is a private, Slack-based community dedicated to fostering conversations about the gender wage gap. I created Pay Up at the Washington Post with my friend and colleague, Julia Carpenter. We've created a thriving, organic, sustaining community of women who are working together to help close the wage gap.
This was the first time Slack has been used in this way, for a journalistic use, and I was named one of the Online News Association's 2016 MJ Bear fellows for my work on the community. We've also been written up in Wired and Nieman Lab.
Pay Up is now an independently managed community online.
